Abstract

This study aims to design a steel Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) with a portal frame system for long-span industrial buildings. The case study focuses on a manufacturing facility with a main span of 65 meters, a length of 224 meters, and a height of 10 meters, designed to provide a column-free space to maximize layout flexibility. The analysis was carried out using STAAD.Pro software with three-dimensional modeling, in which structural elements were modeled as frame elements and supports were represented as pinned supports. Load calculations refer to SNI 1727:2020 and SNI 1726:2019, covering dead loads, live loads, wind loads, and seismic loads, with the maximum load combination used to evaluate critical conditions. The analysis results show the distribution of support reactions, bending moments, and shear forces, with significant values observed at portal As-16 as the primary point of review. Section design ratio checks based on AISC 360-16 yielded the highest value of approximately 0.97, indicating that the element is working close to its maximum capacity but still meets strength requirements. This study provides a technical overview of the performance of long-span PEB structures in Indonesia and highlights the importance of 3D modeling and a comprehensive evaluation of seismic and wind loads to ensure the safety and stability of industrial buildings.
